Meet Kip Gordon!
Meet Kip Gordon, a project manager who turns dreams into brick-and-mortar realities. Kip’s journey into construction began with a background in movie and theatrical set construction, followed by managing restaurant builds that sparked his passion for construction:
How did you get into construction and why?
I had some past experience with movie/theatrical set construction and then managed a two restaurant builds for my previous job. Those experiences piqued my interest in building construction so I sought out a job that would give me a great understanding and allow me the opportunity to help build people’s dreams.
What is the best part of your job?
The look in a customer’s eye when they see the finished product. Also, the daily challenges that come up. It’s always something new to figure out. Each project is like a new puzzle to solve.
What is the hardest part of your job?
Dealing with delays that are largely out of our control. Sometimes a material or subcontractor just isn’t available when we need them so we have to regroup and try to figure out a way forward that won’t delay the projected finish.
What is your dream job if you weren’t in construction?
Sailboat Captain and Gentleman of Leisure.
Best way to spend a Saturday?
Working in the yard with my kids or sailing. Sailing with the kids once they get interested in it.
If you could only listen to 5 artists/bands for the rest of your life, who would they be?
Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Billy Strings, and Sigur Ros.
