Apprentice (Memphis, TN)

Residential Division Apprentice Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Take Direction from Construction Manager and Crew Lead
  • Ensure job sites are safe and following code enforcements
  • Seek to take necessary safety precautions of themselves and others

Demolition:

  • Tear down and/or remove unsound structures / building elements
  • Remove standing aspects of a site for remodeling
  • Use power tools and tailer to complete tasks

Maintenance:

  • Clear job sites of debris or used materials
  • Work with team members to clear needed materials
  • Maintain a professional manner fitting a representative of RKA Construction

Commercial Senior Superintendent (Memphis, TN)

Commercial Division Senior Superintendent Job Description

Jobsite Responsibilities

  • Oversee larger volume projects within the Commercial Division
  • When able, visit additional projects on a weekly basis to review progress with Project Superintendent(s) within the Commercial Division
  • Lead, guide, and mentor Project Superintendents to help advance their growth and development
  • Ensure all safety measures are in place and hold each Trade Partner accountable for safely performing all activities
  • Support the development of all project schedules during the hand-off stage and accountability for schedule updates for all assigned projects
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization and protection
  • Lead efforts for quality control measures per the RKA Standard Operating Procedures checklists
  • Ensure the complete utilization of Procore for all projects within the Commercial Division, including Daily Construction Reports, Scheduling Updates, Punchlist, etc.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Design details, confirmed material selections and their proper execution
  • Be meticulous when reviewing work performed by Trade Partners
  • Ensure work is being performed per latest plan and documentation
  • Thorough weekly inspection of all projects for items needing completion or correction

Scheduling Responsibilities

  • Schedule Trade Partners and vendors based on critical path timeline as outlined within the project schedule
  • Orchestrate routine coordination meetings among Trade Partners
  • Ensure trade partners in 8-week schedules are notified of and committed to listed dates
  • Schedule Trade Partners 4 weeks in advance with notices at 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week, and 1‐2 days prior to starting work
  • Ensure scheduled Trade Partners and vendors are onsite as planned

  • Keep jobsite tools and materials inventoried and organized; keep track of materials that need to be ordered in order to keep jobsite clean and organized; maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization and protection

                        Construction Internship (Memphis, TN)

                        Contruction Internship Job Description

                        RKA Construction is recruiting students interested in internships in the construction industry. Our goal at is not only to engage students and teach them about the day-to-day activities of a general contractor, but also to assist in educating them to potentially become future successful employees with our company.

                        Responsibilities:

                        Students working in construction operations will work closely with our preconstruction, project management, and jobsite teams, as well as with subcontractors and owners, to aid in the successful setup, execution, and closeout of projects.

                         

                        Responsibilities and duties may include the following:

                        • Gaining an understanding of the RKA construction process
                        • Participating in takeoff/ estimating process
                        • Attend design meetings with owner and team
                        • Attend project site visits to observe and document construction field activities
                        • Help create a working timeline for subcontractors in order to complete the project on time
                        • Assisting in jobsite setup, permitting, and closeout
                        • Assist in preparation of and conduct correspondence and communication as directed to architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors in connection with performing their assigned trades

                         

                        Qualifications

                        • Enrolled and actively pursuing a college or university accredited degree program; recommended majors include and not limited to Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, and at minimum 1 year of completed educational studies.
                        • Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
                        • Must maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
                        • Must be able to work 40 hours per week
                        • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
