Estimator

Estimator Job Description

The role of the Estimator will be to support all estimating components of the RKA Construction Preconstruction Department for both the Residential and Commercial Divisions.

Estimating:
• Maintain all current project drawings, specifications, and addenda and distribution to subcontractors
• Generate detailed estimates for prospective clients as required
• Develop project scopes for each division of work during the preconstruction timeline
• Assist the Preconstruction Manager in managing deliverable timelines
• Coordinate subcontractor estimating meetings with prospective clients/design team
• Study plans and provide estimating guidelines to subcontractors and vendors
• Quantity takeoffs using detailed spreadsheets and takeoff software
• Maintenance of current approved Subcontractor/Vendor List
• Maintain historical pricing database
• Support project download meetings with project manager and superintendent
• Update Residential and Commercial Department heads on current estimate statuses during weekly meeting

General:

• Attendance at networking and social events

Oxford Assistant Superintendent

Oxford Assistant Superintendent Job Description

 

Work Location: Oxford, MS

RKA Construction is seeking a highly motivated and organized Assistant Superintendent to support our Oxford projects. As an Assistant Superintendent, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our projects, helping us maintain our commitment to quality and excellence. This position offers a unique part-time opportunity to gain valuable experience in the construction industry and work with a dedicated team of professionals.

 

Jobsite Responsibilities:

  • Visit each assigned project as needs arise from project superintendent
  • Coordinate with superintendent for cover up and protection prior to demolition
  • Coordinate demolition needs with superintendent and help manage the process
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization, and product protection
  • Delivery of project material needs per superintendent request
  • Be meticulous is reviewing work done by subcontractors and notify superintendent of issues or concerns
  • Ensure job signage and rules are displayed appropriately and enforced
  • Help maintain tree, driveway, landscape and interior finish protection
  • Ensure new surfaces needing protection are properly protected at all times
  • Utilize Planradar for quality control and ongoing punch out process with superintendent input

 

Punch-out Responsibilities:

  • Be onsite to generate our internal punch list at the designated time prior to formal punch
  • Be on site to generate formal punch list with RKA, owner, designer and architects
  • Schedule Trade partners to complete punch list within a 2-week time period.
  • Maintain current punch list and meet with General superintendent weekly to review
  • All new items added will receive a 2-week deadline to complete
  • Ensure scheduled trade partners are on-site as planned
  • Ensure needed materials for completion of punch list are onsite and ready for install

 

Communication Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Superintendents and anticipate possible project needs
  • Be responsive and available via email, text, and phone
  • Ensure clients are informed and updated on progress during our punch out process.
  • Ensure General Superintendent is aware of trade partners neglecting properly communicated schedule, scheduling conflicts or any critical trade issues

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or higher in a related field is a plus).
  • Previous construction experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of construction safety practices.

 Pickwick Residential Superintendent Job Description

Jobsite Responsibilities

  • Visit each jobsite daily; open and close up jobsite following alarm, lights, and locking procedures
  • Ensure scheduled subcontractors and vendors are on-site as planned
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization and protection
  • Ensure all materials required for the job are present prior to trade partner arrival
  • Have a thorough understanding of Design details, confirmed material selections and their proper execution
  • Consider lead times when scheduling material orders
  • Be meticulous is reviewing work done by subcontractors
  • When on-site communicate with all trades present to ensure information/needs are address prior to leaving
  • Actively manage all facets of the project. 
  • Ensure work is being done per latest plan and documentation
  • Ensure job signage and rules are displayed appropriately and enforced
  • Ensure protection of new and existing interior finishes, driveways, landscaping, etc.
  • New finishes must be protected within 24 hours of install
  • Utilize Planradar for quality control and ongoing punch out process

  • Ensure scheduled subcontractors and vendors are on-site as planned
  • Schedule items to be done both essential and non-essential to critical path with trade partners
  • Implement and follow punch out procedure at appropriate time for each project
  • Complete any non-critical path items as soon as possible
  • Schedule QC checklist site review with General Superintendent at appropriate intervals

Communication Responsibilities

  • Communicate with architect, designers, and owner throughout the job process
  • Be responsive and available via email, text and phone
  • Update homeowner each Friday of job status
  • Communicate with office staff weekly for both scheduling and financial details
  • Ensure General Superintendent is aware of trade partners neglecting properly communicated schedule, scheduling conflicts or any critical trade issues

Miscellaneous

Commercial Division Senior Superintendent Job Description

Jobsite Responsibilities

  • Oversee larger volume projects within the Commercial Division
  • When able, visit additional projects on a weekly basis to review progress with Project Superintendent(s) within the Commercial Division
  • Lead, guide, and mentor Project Superintendents to help advance their growth and development
  • Ensure all safety measures are in place and hold each Trade Partner accountable for safely performing all activities
  • Support the development of all project schedules during the hand-off stage and accountability for schedule updates for all assigned projects
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness, organization and protection
  • Lead efforts for quality control measures per the RKA Standard Operating Procedures checklists
  • Ensure the complete utilization of Procore for all projects within the Commercial Division, including Daily Construction Reports, Scheduling Updates, Punchlist, etc.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Design details, confirmed material selections and their proper execution
  • Be meticulous when reviewing work performed by Trade Partners
  • Ensure work is being performed per latest plan and documentation
  • Thorough weekly inspection of all projects for items needing completion or correction

Communication Responsibilities

  • Communicate with architect, designers, and owner throughout the job process
  • Be responsive and available via email, text and phone
  • Update owner weekly of job status for assigned projects, and ensure that Project Superintendents are doing the same for their assigned project(s)
  • Communicate with office staff weekly for both scheduling and financial details
