Update to Traditional

New to Memphis, our client dreamed of transforming this traditional house into their home. Architect Brad Shapiro, designer Lindsey Black and the homeowner worked to open up the main living areas while also updating the entire home. This was accomplished by removing interior walls to connect the kitchen, family room, butler’s pantry, and dining room. The kitchen design is both functional and fun with the white oak island complementing the white cabinets made by Midtown Cabinetry and Millwork.

The kitchen also features a statement-making, full-height tile backsplash. The detailed focus of the design team is evident from the moment you walk into the front door where you find an elegant open staircase with custom wall paneling. The new bar area functions as an area for conversation and for enjoying the ball game with family and friends. The formal dining room is complemented by a custom-made white oak serving hutch. This timeless piece provides a seamless transition from the dining room to the living room.
