SouthBluffs Family Home
The homeowners of this South Bluffs project wished to build a home that would captivate the view of the Mississippi River. LRK Architects provided an open design for the family that took advantage of the last available lot in the neighborhood. In order to take full advantage of the views, the home’s living spaces were designed to be on the second floor. Large windows and a vaulted ceiling in the family room and kitchen allow for both Mississippi River bridge views as well as the walking paths of Tom Lee Park. The family room features exposed wood beams as well as a custom limestone fireplace mantle. From the kitchen, sliding glass doors lead you to an open balcony. The screened in porch features mobile screen curtains, cedar walls and ceiling, and an outdoor grill that is complemented by concrete pavers.
The first floor of the home provides privacy for the homeowners with a study, laundry, master suite and garage completed with a dumbwaiter that connects to the upstairs kitchen. Outside of the master suite is a cozy sitting area that allows for river views, or an area to settle in with a book from the custom built ins. Outside, the backyard makes for year-round entertainment with a gas fire pit as well as a custom spa with views of the Memphis sunset.
