How did you get into construction and why?

I got into construction working for a temporary structures company. We provided long term rental solutions to commercial clients looking for buildings serving all sorts of needs – temporary housing, warehousing, firehouses, aircraft hangars, blast structures, lunch tents, fitness centers, etc.  I’ve always found it rewarding to take a set of materials and turn those into meaningful and useful structures.  I love the unique set of challenges which come with each project and working as a team to serve each other and our client as we find solutions. It’s also highly motivating to me to turn a building or a home over to a client and have exceeded their expectations – both from a final product and experience standpoint. Stepping back at completion and saying “we did that” really gives you something to be proud of.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is by far the people I work with and the opportunity to build relationships and lead.

What is the hardest part of your job?

A challenging part of my job is keeping all the plates spinning, we wear a lot of hats as we work to serve each other and our clients. It’s at times a balancing act but I love the challenge my role brings and wouldn’t have it any differently.

What is your dream job if you weren’t in construction?

My dream jobs growing up were to be either a country singer or an astronaut. If I couldn’t fail, my dream job would be either an NFL quarterback for the Chiefs or the U.S. President.
