Meet Jim Williams, our incredible Oxford Market Manager. Inspired by his grandfather, a carpenter, and his dad, a skilled builder, Jim transitioned from a 25-year career in the landscape industry to construction and we are lucky to have him managing our new office in Oxford, Mississippi.

How did you get into construction and why?

As a boy my grandfather was a carpenter and my dad could build just about anything. Originally, I worked in the landscape industry for over 25 years, around both residential and commercial construction.

Later in my career I had an opportunity to work with the St. Jude Dream Home at ALSAC (St. Jude Children’s Hospital). The homebuilders and their tradespeople were collectively the most giving group of people I had ever met. This inspired me even more to take my shot at construction when the opportunity presented itself.

What is the best part of your job?

Simply stated, achieving the same vision that architect designed, and that client purchased as their “dream home”.

What is the hardest part of your job?

Philanthropy – most likely fundraising for those who face adversity, the vulnerable, the less fortunate. My family and I have been very blessed and after working in fundraising for brief period I discovered a passion for working with a greater good attachment to be extremely fulfilling.

What is your dream job if you weren’t in construction?

Full time trap-shooting coach. I used to coach parttime, but it’s a demanding schedule. It’s such a fun and ever-growing sport!

Best way to spend a Saturday?

I love the outdoors, I love my family, so pretty much anything outside with friends or family. Running, hiking, hunting, fishing, and especially landscaping projects.

If you could only listen to 5 artists/bands for the rest of your life, who would they be?

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Hillsong United
