Meet our Executive Vice President of RKA’s Commercial Division, Patrick Johnston!
How did you get into construction and why?
I grew up loving to work with my dad in his workshop, as he taught me how to use tools around the house. I spent my high school years working after school at a local hardware store. I just love seeing how projects come together and the craft that is behind our industry.
What is the best part of your job?
I love to develop relationships with our team. I believe that the stronger internal team we have, the better we will be able to service our clients, design, and trade partners, as well as each other. Our industry can be tough, but it’s so rewarding when a team comes together to bring a project to reality.
What is the hardest part of your job?
As we look to expand and grow the Commercial Division, I believe it will be trying to ensure that we have a good, balanced portfolio of work and that we are signing up for the right types of projects.
What is your dream job if you weren’t in construction?

Best way to spend a Saturday?
Hanging out with my wife, two boys, and our dog. During the fall, there is nothing better than a good day of college football!
